December Newsletter

Hello friends and family!

It has been a slow month for us here in Uganda and we are enjoying our break before the craziness begins. We spent Christmas Day going to the Christmas service at church and fellowshipping with friends from church and their twin baby boys, along with two girls from Germany. We cooked Chinese food for lunch, played games, went on a walk through the community, and relaxed.

I made apple pie which was a treat and a taste of home! We spent New Year's Eve stuck in almost 4 hours of traffic in Kampala and drove into our driveway at exactly midnight to find beautiful fireworks viewable right from our front porch. We had our director, Davis, and his family over for lunch on New Year's Day which was a real treat. Overall, our holidays were a fun time despite the homesickness that comes with being away from family during the holidays.

Now it is finally January, when all the busyness really starts. But, we are so excited! Katelyn's cousin, Jamie, is coming for a 2 week visit on Tuesday and we could not be more excited to see her. We will also have our first set of volunteers coming on January 19 and staying through February. This will be the start of a big change for us. Please keep us in your prayers as we adjust to this new year and all of the new things it is bringing.

We had our very first women's bible study on January 5 with 16 ladies who came! We introduced them to our vision for this bible study and had a time of praise and worship and prayer. There are so many opportunities that come from merely starting a bible study. We cannot tell you how excited and expectant we are to get this project going and to see all that God is going to do through this one act. Right now, our bible studies are going to be held every Tuesday at 5pm (Uganda time). Our one prayer for this is that every woman that comes through the door would be able to feel and know the love of Jesus, taking it home with her to change her community and raise leaders of Christ.

Prayer Requests
  • Continued financial provision
  • Silvester's visa process
  • National stability during the upcoming elections
  • Women's Ministry
  • Time of adjustment with new volunteers
  • Good health
Please continue to pray with us during this time for the upcoming elections in February. Elections can bring a period of instability, riots, and strikes. Please pray that the nation would continue on in peace.

We are so thankful for the way God continues to provide for us financially. He has shown us He is our true provider! We found ourselves in a very difficult position financially around Christmas and honestly did not know what we were going to do. We prayed. And God provided in that very same week. I know we say that we are so thankful all the time, but we really are. Serving here with no stable income has really taught us what it means to trust God. We have never been left hungry or without a roof over our heads, and for that we are most thankful.

We would also like to give Him praise for His protection over us through the holidays. His hand was over us and not one scheme of evil was able to overcome!

Please pray with us that God would continue to provide for us just like He always has. We serve a faithful God and He has never left us to walk this journey alone.

Thank you for your friendship and support! If you have any questions or would like to know more about what we are doing, please always feel free to ask. We love hearing from each of you.

What are your goals for 2016?
